Process
From a line on a hill to a ring in a box.
Every Fell & Forge ring is designed in York and cast in sterling silver by a specialist casting partner. Casting does not happen in the York workshop. Everything after it does: the sprue is cut away, the ring is finished and polished by hand, then checked, photographed and packed. The five stages below follow that route in order.
- 01
Place, research and design direction
It starts with a real profile. Contours, photographs and survey data are compared until the ridge remains recognisable at ring scale.

An illustration of this stage, not a photograph of a real design in progress. - 02
Digital modelling
The band is modelled to a comfortable section and the ridge is cut into it, then the slopes are textured so the light breaks the way it does on real rock.

The digital model before casting. The on-screen material is not the finished sterling silver colour. - 03
Specialist casting in sterling silver
A wax pattern is produced from the digital model and cast in 925 sterling silver by a specialist casting partner. Rings come back rough, still on the sprue, with the texture full of investment.

The ring as it returns from casting, before any finishing work. - 04
Sprue removal and hand-finishing in York
The sprue is cut away and the join worked back until it disappears. The ridge is brought up bright, the slopes are left matt, and the inside is finished smooth, all by hand at the bench.

Checking, photographing, packing and dispatch
Every ring is checked against the original profile, photographed and packed by hand before it leaves the workshop.
