Guide

Finding your ring size.

Fell & Forge rings use UK ring sizes. This guide covers how to find yours reliably before ordering, and what to do if you are between sizes.

The most reliable way to measure

A professional measurement by a jeweller, using a proper ring sizer, is the most reliable way to find your UK ring size. If you can get to a local jeweller for a professional sizing, that reading is worth more than any measurement taken at home.

Measuring at home

If a professional measurement is not practical, measuring at home can still get you close, but it needs care:

  • Measure the finger you actually intend to wear the ring on, not a different one. Fingers vary in size from hand to hand.
  • Measure more than once, ideally on different days. Fingers change size with temperature, time of day and general swelling, so a single reading can be misleading.
  • Avoid relying only on a strip of string or paper pulled tight. It is easy to over-tighten and end up with a size smaller than you actually need, especially around the knuckle.
  • If you already own a ring that fits the same finger well, an existing ring-sizing tool or a jeweller can measure it directly, which is usually more accurate than measuring the finger itself.

Band width changes how a ring feels

A wider band can feel tighter than a narrow ring in the same stated size, because more metal has to pass over the same knuckle. The current Three Peaks bands are approximately 5 mm wide. If you usually wear narrow rings and are ordering a Three Peaks ring for the first time, it is worth allowing for this rather than assuming your usual size will feel identical.

If you are between sizes

If your measurement falls between two standard sizes, it is usually more comfortable to size up rather than down, particularly for a wider band. If you are at all unsure, contact Fell & Forge before ordering. Settling the size first is much simpler than dealing with it once a ring has been made.

Ordering

Purchases are completed through Etsy, and each ring is made to order, so your size needs to be settled before making begins. Fingers and preferences vary and no guide can promise a perfect fit on arrival, but taking the steps above gives you the best chance of one first time. If anything is unclear before you order, contact Fell & Forge and ask.
